Dark Matter
A commissioned pitch for Apple TV+’s Dark Matter, connecting fractured typography and green-and-amber portraits across a cinematic poster family.
Commissioned by Apple TV+ for Dark Matter and submitted as a pitch.
Develop a coherent visual direction for the Dark Matter pitch, connecting split portraits, contrasting light and a fractured title treatment across campaign formats.
Visual identity and key visual design
Title treatment, character posters and campaign-format visual studies.
The fracture connects lettering and portraiture without needing a separate motif for every character. The work is presented as the commissioned pitch identified in the project context, with no implication that it became the final released identity.

What the work needed to connect
Develop a coherent visual direction for the Dark Matter pitch, connecting split portraits, contrasting light and a fractured title treatment across campaign formats.
Holding the pitch together with a fracture
The interrupted wordmark introduces a divided visual language. Green and amber portraits then vary the lighting within that frame before the ensemble image brings the cast together.
A familiar face, a divided frame
Commissioned by Apple TV+ and submitted as a pitch, this project develops a visual direction for Dark Matter. Split portraits, reflected faces and opposing colours create a sense of uncertainty while preserving a consistent point of recognition across the proposed poster family.
A fracture through the letterforms
The ivory wordmark is interrupted by narrow cuts and displaced segments. Small green and amber highlights connect the type to the portraits. Its stacked construction gives the title a stable silhouette even when the surrounding composition changes.
Different faces, the same tension
Green and amber light divide the portraits into contrasting zones. Tight crops hold attention on expression, while the repeated title treatment connects each character to the wider family. The identity board brings those variations together.
A cast held together by colour
The final ensemble composition brings five portraits into a continuous frame. Repeated lighting, dark backgrounds and shared typography connect the individual executions. Together, they present the proposed visual language across the pitch, from individual character posters to the wider cast.
What I take from this direction
The fracture connects lettering and portraiture without needing a separate motif for every character. The work is presented as the commissioned pitch identified in the project context, with no implication that it became the final released identity.
