Illumina BaseSpace

An independent genomic workspace concept linking a schematic variant map, locus detail and illustrative drug–gene evidence in one research view.

Illumina BaseSpace

An independent interface exploration inspired by the BaseSpace genomic workspace. The drug–gene explorer is a concept extension; this project is not commissioned or endorsed by Illumina.

Keep sample context, variant detail and drug–gene relationships visible together, while making the limits of synthetic evidence clear throughout a dense scientific interface.

Product interface design and interactive prototype

Responsive research workspace, interactive Genome lens, linked locus detail, drug–gene explorer, session review list and concept cover artwork.

The delivered prototype demonstrates linked exploration, filtering and session review with synthetic records. It performs no genomic analysis, phenotype inference or individual drug-response prediction.

Independent portfolio concept by Ali Komeili / Desartly. Illumina and BaseSpace names and logo belong to their respective owners. Supplied glass-office cover is a conceptual visualization.

A shared context for exploration

A variant becomes more useful to explore when its surrounding evidence stays in view. This independent concept places sample quality above the workspace, a schematic genome map at its center and the selected drug–gene relationship beside it. All records and metrics are synthetic interface examples.

One selection connects the evidence

The circular Genome lens offers a spatial entry point; gene shortcuts and table rows provide direct alternatives. Selecting a locus updates the gene, coverage track and relationship panel together. Orange marks the active connection, while monospaced labels distinguish genomic coordinates from explanatory text.

Make uncertainty part of the interface

The relationship panel keeps genotype, review status and an explicit evidence limit together. Its research signal invites further investigation without assigning a metabolizer phenotype or response score. A session review list supports collecting pairs for a closer look; the simulated pipeline demonstrates feedback without processing genomic files.

Delivered scope and next validation

This prototype delivers a working exploration flow and a responsive visual system. The glass-office cover translates its circular map into conceptual artwork. Research with genomics specialists, validated annotation sources and clinical interpretation are outside the supplied scope; no usability improvement or therapeutic outcome is claimed.
