John Deere Operations Center

An independent dashboard concept for family farms, connecting equipment monitoring, field health and daily priorities in a responsive workspace.

John Deere Operations Center

Independent study of a family-farm operations dashboard.

Bring machine activity, field conditions and maintenance priorities into a readable overview, while keeping the route from an alert to its equipment or field clear.

Interface design, responsive interactive prototyping and case-study presentation

Responsive HTML dashboard, interactive farm map, equipment filters and details, field-health views, alert dialogs and a sample CSV export.

A working browser prototype connecting four sample fields and four machines through map selection, equipment details and contextual alerts, with responsive desktop and mobile layouts.

Independent design concept by Ali Komeili. John Deere names and marks belong to their respective owner. Supplied illustrative tablet mockup. Satellite basemap: Esri, Maxar and Earthstar Geographics; boundaries and telemetry are illustrative.

A clear view of the working day

A family farm has several kinds of work happening at once: harvesting, tillage, spraying and checking the land itself. This independent concept brings those activities into a shared overview, with the farm map as its centre and a short list of priorities nearby. The prototype uses sample data throughout.

Keep machines connected to their fields

Equipment and crop-health layers share the same field boundaries. Switch layers or select a field to inspect its readings; machine markers open the relevant telemetry. Zoom and search keep a specific part of the farm within reach.

Scan the fleet, then inspect

A consistent reading order makes the fleet easy to scan: machine, field, operating state, fuel and speed. Filter the list, select a machine and inspect its operator and completed work. Less frequent checks sit one step deeper in the detail dialog.

Give each alert a next step

Every alert offers a relevant next step: review a dry field, inspect an upcoming service or check a low-fuel machine. The health summary distinguishes healthy acres, land to monitor and missing data. A full-width forecast keeps weather readable alongside those priorities.

Familiar colour, readable operating states

Green anchors navigation and normal activity; yellow highlights fields and caution states. Text labels carry the meaning alongside colour. On smaller screens, the map, equipment and priorities stack in the same reading order, with controls kept beside their content.

A working concept for review

The result is a responsive browser prototype with selectable fields, equipment filters, contextual dialogs, map controls and a sample report export. It makes the proposed information hierarchy and interactions available for review. Live telemetry, agronomic validation and testing with farming families remain outside the scope of this independent study.
